About Me

My Story

Hi!  My name is Maggie and I'm currently a second-year mechanical engineering major at the University of Cincinnati in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.  As a part of the University Honors Program, this portfolio was created to allow you to get to know more about me and my time here at UC.

I grew up in Worthington, a smaller town located just outside of Columbus, Ohio.  I value hard-work, individualism, self-discipline, and integrity; traits which my parents fostered in both my sister and me from a young age.  I was raised Catholic, and my faith plays an integral part in the development of my morals and views.  I believe that it is always possible to improve, and I strive to do so as I learn continuously about myself and others through experience.

I fell in love with puzzles as a child, which then paved the way for my passion for problem solving and creativity.  I have found success in many classes, especially within the realm of science, math, and language.  In college, I hope to broaden my horizons both inside and outside of the classroom, as well as make meaningful connections and build life-long friendships with my peers.

Interests

Running

Movement helps me relax, and I love long runs! I ran my first half-marathon during my senior year of high school and my first triathlon a few months later, and both were such fun experiences.

Yoga

I took a yoga class my freshman year of high school, and I've been doing it ever since to relieve stress!

Gardening

I like to say that I have my own jungle at home. Houseplants and succulents are my favorites, but I love every type of plant! I recently started outdoor gardening, and it quickly became a hobby.

Music

Listening to music makes everything more fun and really sets the tone for whatever I'm doing! I usually listen to indie or soft pop when I study.

Reading

I've always been an avid reader. Some of my favorite books are John Green's Looking for Alaska and Taylor Jenkins Reid's The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

Painting

Growing up I was into all different types of art, but painting has always stuck with me, as it's one of the ways I like to relax.
